Configuring Your WWW Browser

Your html browser can be configured such that it launches Mathematica when you follow a link to a notebook. Notebooks have a file extension of .nb or .ma (for old Version 2 notebooks). the MIME type associated with these extensions is application/mathematica.

The method to configure your browser is different for each browser and operating system. Up-to-date information on how to configure your browser can be found at Wolfram Research's Web site. The information given there refers to MathReader, but you can replace references to MathReader by Mathematica.

Note that notebooks now have an extension .nb instead of .ma.

MathReader

If you don't have Mathematica installed on your system you can still view notebooks using MathReader, a freely available notebook reader. You can download it from Wolfram Research's Web site.
