Programs Available Here

The following programs and reprints can be downloaded from the server at the Dept. of Computer Science, ETH Zurich.

Uniform Polyhedra

The programs are described in the article Uniform Polyhedra [Maeder93f] from Vol. 3, Issue 4, of The Mathematica Journal.
  1. UniformPolyhedra.m is a Mathematica version of Har'El's original program to compute algebraic and geometric properties of all uniform polyhedra.
  2. PolyhedraExamples.m contains the list of names and Wythoff symbols of 80 examples of uniform polyhedra. The numbering is the same as in our annotated list. The program is used together with UniformPolyhedra.m.
  3. SphericalTriangles.m contains functions for drawing spherical triangles and great circle arcs. It is used for some of the illustrations in PolyPictures.ma.
  4. PolyPictures.ma contains the code to produce the graphics in Uniform Polyhedra.

Stellated Icosahedra

The programs are described in the article The Stellated Icosahedra [Maeder94b] from Vol. 3, Issue 1, of Mathematica in Education and Research.
  1. Icosahedra.m contains Mathematica code to generate vertex data and graphics of all 59 stellated icosahedra and some illustrations of plane partitions.
  2. Icosahedra.ma contains the code for the examples in The Stellated Icosahedra.

Ray-Tracing Utilities

The programs are described in the article Ray Tracing and Graphics Extensions [Maeder94e] from Vol. 4, Issue 3, of The Mathematica Journal.
  1. POVray.m is a program to convert Mathematica graphic objects into input format for POV-Ray.
  2. rayshade.m is a converter from Mathematica graphics to rayshade input.
  3. SurfaceGraphics3D.m is an extension of Mathematica's surface graphics that includes surface normals.
